Thank You for Supporting Musical Improv in the Bay Area

That's a wrap on the second-annual Bay Area Musical Improv Festival!

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in this year's festival--you made it such a joyful and inspiring weekend!

Over four days, we hosted over 700 audience members at eight shows, with 25 acts, featuring 117 performers. We also held seven sold-out workshops for 104 students and a workshop for 10 Musical Directors. And we hosted an incredible opening pizza party, a rockin 'closing party with live-band karaoke, a performer jam and a bagel and coffee klatch.

And we're excited to announce that we're coming back again next year! Save the date, because the third-annual Bay Area Musical Improv Festival will be back October 22 - 25, 2026.

Holiday Party

Join us on Sunday, January 11 in San Francisco for an evening of post-holiday revelry, treats and made up carols.

This is a totally FREE event for any and all musical improvisers and/or musical improv enthusiasts. Come make new friends from the community, connect with old friends, and join us in improvising some never-before heard (and never-to-be-heard again) holiday carols!

We'll provide hot drinks (hot cocoa, apple cider and tea) and if you have a favorite holiday treat (perhaps a favorite winter-time cookie or snack or drink) feel free to bring it! And if you aren't able to bring a treat, no worries, come as you are.

Tickets are free, but you must register in advance.

Submit to Teach a Workshop

We're excited to announce that this spring we'll be hosting our first ever Weekend of Workshops in San Francisco!
 
This is a weekend dedicated to showcasing and fostering local teachers, offering musical improvisers the chance to learn about unique topics from our own local talent pool!
 
Applications to teach are now open through January 11th!
 
Anyone is welcome to apply, regardless of experience-level, however due to space and time limitations, we likely won't be able to accept all applicants.
 
Have a topic you think you're uniquely suited to teach? Something that local musical improvisers would benefit from? Submit your application!
