Apply for a Mixer Team

About the Mixer Teams

We’re excited to announce that the Bay Area Musical Improv Festival will be including Mixer Teams–ad-hoc teams made up of experienced musical improvisers.

Each mixer team will have a performance slot at a special Mixer Show on Saturday, October 26 at 4:30pm.

The goal of the mixer teams is to provide performance opportunities to those who are not already performing in the festival. However the teams will likely also include some individuals who are already performing as part of an act in the festival.

How The Mixer Teams Will Work

After the application deadline on October 1st, the festival committee will select players based on their applications and assign them to a team. Each team will also be assigned a Musical Director and Coach.

Each team will have a 2-hour rehearsal either on the day of the show, or the Saturday before (depending on team member availability). They will then perform as part of the Mixer Team Show on Saturday, October 26 at 4:30pm.

Each team member will be required to contribute $30 to help cover the costs of their coach and Musical Director and rehearsal space.

Application Requirements

In order to apply for a mixer team, you must have performed or studied musical improv at the intermediate to advanced level (e.g. have taken more than one musical improv class or performed regularly with a musical improv group). While we would love to include beginners, the limited rehearsal time necessitates focusing on those with some experience.

We particularly encourage applications from individuals who are not already performing in the festival. Though individuals who are already performing as part of an act in the festival, including performers from out of town, are also eligible to apply.

All applicants must be available for the Mixer Team Show on Saturday, October 26th at 4:30pm (call time at 4:00pm) and at least one of the potential rehearsal slots on Saturday October 19th or 26th.

The deadline to apply is October 1st.

The Bay Area Musical Improv Festival is run by Bay Area Musical Improv, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is create opportunities for musical improvisers in the San Francisco Bay Area.
