Are you considering creating your own independent musical improv team? Or do you already have one but are dealing with questions about how to run it and find performance opportunities?
Well you're in luck. The team at Bay Area Musical Improv has developed an Indie Team Guide, in order to help demystify the process of creating, running and promoting an indie team and encourage more indie teams here in the Bay Area.
This includes two publications:
The Guide to Creating and Running an Indie Team
This booklet is an introduction to the various steps any indie team will need to make--from the foundational logistics that get a team up and running, to the regular managing of a team, to the (less fun, but incredibly important) ways you promote your team's shows.
The Bay Area Indie Team Venue Guide
This spreadsheet includes crowdsourced information about opportunities for your team here in the Bay Area. There are three sheets, including: A list of indie-friendly shows you can try submitting your team to; a list of local theater venues where you can self-produce a show; and a list of free and low-cost rehearsal spaces.
